Laptop hinge manufacturing uses MIM cam mechanisms for consistent torque. Torque specification: 3-6 Ncm opening, 2-4 Ncm closing. Cam materials: hardened 440C or 17-4PH stainless. Sleeves from SS 303 Swiss CNC.

Spring washers provide preload. Bracket from SS 304 MIM for net shape mounting features.

MIM for Cams

MIM produces cam profiles with net shape accuracy (±0.02mm). 17-4PH stainless heat treated to HRC 40-45 for wear resistance. Sintered density >97%. Tumbling for edge break and consistent surface.

Testing

Automated torque vs angle measurement. Dynamic cycling: 24/7 accelerated testing. Torque degradation <30% after 20,000 cycles. Environmental: -10°C to 60°C. Salt spray for corrosion. Vibration test for shipping.

Torque consistency ±15% across the product lifetime. Cpk >1.33 for critical torque specification.
